C S Backhouse was started in 1979 by Stephen and Sally Backhouse. in 1999 David joined the business, then in 2004 Edward join the business. The 4 of them grew the business.
Stephen wanted to reinvigorate the land and creating its own compost enable us to do this. C S Backhouse started its composting operations in 2003 and has developed this into a successful recycling business.
Unfortunately Stephen Passed away in July 2015.
The business is now run by David and Edward along with their mother Sally.They have loyal staff.

We take recycling seriously and have acquired the following qualifications and accreditations to enable us to develop our business to that end:
- CPTC – Treatment and transfer of hazardous waste
- FACTS – Fertiliser advisory certificate and training scheme
- CPC – International Road Haulage
- HGV – Heavy Good Licence
